The University of Tokyo is a world-renowned comprehensive research university, loaded in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan. As the highest academic hall in Japan and the head of the seven old imperial universities, it has a high reputation around the world; Dongda University was established in 1877. It was restructured from the merger of "Tokyo Kaisei School" and "Tokyo Medical School" during the Meiji Restoration. The first national comprehensive university and one of the earliest Western universities in Asia, some of its departments can be traced back to the era of Emperor Lingyuan. As a direct product of the impact of the wave of capitalist civilization, Tohoku University plays an important role in Japanese society and history.
