Underfloor Air Distribution Systems (UFAD) are rapidly penetrated the office building arena across the world because they provide a number of advantages, (and a few disadvantages) over conventional office building HVAC systems. This brochure will present current and new design approaches and new solutions that refine and improve the performance and flexibility of (UFAD) systems. Included in this brochure are explanations of maintenance of uniform supply temperatures in the underfloor plenum, introduction of thermal stratification in the occupied spaces, product and design applications of leakage issues in the floor plenum, control of space humidity for humid climates.

Under-Floor Air Distribution (VAV / UFAD), compared with the ceiling air supply system
Air conditioned at (IP 60 F to 65 F, Sl 16-18 C) supplied directly from a central located floor air handler unit to the under floor and as a plenum air is distributes up throughout floor and diffused in a swirling air mixing distribution action. Channeling supply air under the floor is accomplished with zone units and pressure modulation controlled dampers for variable a distribution. UFAD have excellent zoning of large spaces at different air and temperature conditions with standard underfloor diffusers. Supply air swirl motion mixes and increases the comfort and IAQ levels. Ceiling systems blow air down and can not mix properly low air flow.

Powered VAV UFFP floor Air Supply Fan
Model UFFP floor air supply fan powered terminal units is designed for constant air flow operation mixing cooler primary air and space return air and then suppling the air back into the space.The primary air mixed with secondary air directly into the occupied zone, the secondary air temperature sensor is the spaces air temperature and controls primary air fiow, located in the secondary return air-flow in the unit before the fan. No wall mounted thermostat is needed. A remote panel communicates with each unit in a network. Simple adjustment by the occupant can set temperature and fan speed independently for each unit for individual zone comfort.
Underfloor panels are designed for (24x24inch 600 x 600 mm) panels. The model UFFP floor air supply fan powered VAV terminal mounted into the panel space on top of a 600 x 600 mm floor metal bracket, flush inish with the floor surface, the gap at the bottom of the unit to the ground floor and no direct contact is required.
